Industrial Electrical Installations
Full-scope electrical installation for manufacturing, processing, and industrial facilities.
RSP Electrical designs and installs electrical systems for the full range of industrial environments — from manufacturing and food processing to chemical plants and logistics facilities. Our installation teams work to BS 7671 and are experienced in the particular demands of industrial sites: high-current distribution, motor control centres, PLC panels, and complex cable management systems.
We manage projects from initial design and specification through to installation, testing, commissioning, and final certification. Our approach is methodical and documentation-led, ensuring every installation is fully traceable and compliant from day one.
- LV and HV distribution systems
- Motor control centres and drives
- PLC and control panel installation
- Cable management and containment
- Testing, commissioning and certification
ATEX Inspections & Installations
Certified inspection and installation in explosive atmospheres — Zones 0, 1 and 2.
Working in classified hazardous areas demands a level of specialist knowledge that most electrical contractors simply do not possess. RSP Electrical holds full ATEX certification and our engineers are trained and qualified to work in Zone 0, Zone 1, and Zone 2 explosive atmosphere environments, covering both gas and dust hazards.
We carry out initial ATEX inspections to assess the condition and compliance of existing installations, produce detailed inspection reports, and carry out remedial work where required. For new installations, we specify, supply, and install ATEX-rated equipment to the full requirements of the directive, providing complete documentation and certification on completion.
- Zone 0, 1 and 2 gas hazard environments
- Zone 20, 21 and 22 dust hazard environments
- Initial and periodic ATEX inspections
- Detailed inspection reports and certification
- Remedial installation and equipment supply
Harmonic Surveys
Comprehensive harmonic analysis to identify power quality issues and ensure compliance.
Harmonic distortion is a growing problem in modern industrial facilities, driven by the proliferation of variable speed drives, UPS systems, switched-mode power supplies, and other non-linear loads. Left unaddressed, harmonics cause overheating of transformers and cables, nuisance tripping of protective devices, interference with sensitive equipment, and accelerated component failure.
RSP Electrical carries out detailed harmonic surveys using calibrated power quality analysers, measuring voltage and current harmonics across your electrical system. We produce a comprehensive report identifying the sources and magnitudes of harmonic distortion, assess compliance with Engineering Recommendation G5/5 and IEC 61000, and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
- Voltage and current harmonic measurement
- Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) analysis
- ER G5/5 and IEC 61000 compliance assessment
- Source identification and load profiling
- Mitigation recommendations and design
Power Quality Analysis
Detailed power quality assessments to diagnose voltage issues and energy efficiency losses.
Poor power quality manifests in many ways — unexplained equipment failures, process interruptions, high energy bills, and nuisance tripping. RSP Electrical's power quality analysis service uses advanced instrumentation to capture a complete picture of your electrical supply, identifying voltage sags, swells, transients, flicker, unbalance, and frequency deviations.
Our engineers analyse the data against EN 50160 and your equipment's tolerance specifications, producing a clear report that explains what is happening, why it matters, and what can be done about it. Whether the source is internal to your facility or originating from the distribution network, we provide the evidence and the recommendations to resolve it.
- Voltage sag, swell and transient capture
- Voltage unbalance and flicker measurement
- EN 50160 compliance assessment
- Energy efficiency and loss analysis
- Network and equipment interaction studies
Electrical Testing & Inspection
Periodic inspection and testing of industrial electrical installations to BS 7671.
Regular inspection and testing of electrical installations is a legal requirement under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, and a fundamental element of any effective electrical safety management programme. RSP Electrical carries out Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) for industrial and commercial premises, assessing the safety and condition of the installation against the current edition of BS 7671.
Our inspection teams are experienced in the particular challenges of industrial environments — large, complex installations with extensive distribution systems, high-current equipment, and the need to minimise disruption to production. We work with you to plan the inspection programme, carry out the work efficiently, and produce a clear, actionable report.
- Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR)
- BS 7671 compliance assessment
- Thermal imaging surveys
- Earth fault loop impedance testing
- RCD and protective device testing
Load Monitoring & Energy Studies
Long-term load monitoring and energy studies to optimise your electrical infrastructure.
Understanding how your electrical system is actually being used is the foundation of effective energy management and infrastructure planning. RSP Electrical deploys long-term monitoring equipment to capture load profiles across your distribution system, providing the data needed to identify inefficiencies, plan capacity upgrades, and reduce energy costs.
Our energy studies combine monitoring data with a detailed analysis of your electrical infrastructure, identifying opportunities for power factor correction, load balancing, and demand management. The result is a clear picture of your current position and a practical roadmap for improvement.
- Long-term load profile monitoring
- Power factor measurement and correction
- Maximum demand analysis
- Capacity planning and upgrade studies
- Energy efficiency recommendations
Intrusive Electrical Surveys
In-depth intrusive surveys exposing concealed wiring and connections to assess true installation condition.
A standard visual inspection or EICR can only assess what is accessible. Where there is reason to suspect concealed defects — deteriorated insulation, improper joints, corroded terminations, or non-compliant wiring buried within structures — an intrusive electrical survey is the only way to establish the true condition of an installation. RSP Electrical carries out intrusive surveys across industrial and commercial premises, working methodically to expose, inspect, and document concealed electrical infrastructure.
Our engineers plan each intrusive survey carefully to minimise disruption and structural impact, coordinating with your facilities and maintenance teams throughout. Every exposed element is fully documented with photographic evidence and a detailed condition assessment. Where defects are found, we provide a clear remedial specification and can carry out the necessary rectification work under the same contract.
- Concealed wiring and joint inspection
- Insulation resistance and continuity testing in situ
- Photographic evidence and condition reporting
- Termination and connection integrity assessment
- Remedial specification and rectification works
